Re reliable storage:
Is there anything wrong with approaching Google for storage?

They have:
* Unlimited storage
* A stated mission and business driver based around "making all the 
worlds data accessible"
* And I'm aware they have been approaching government agencies offering 
to host the government's geospatial data for them, so it seems they are 
already interested and would be receptive.
