Don,
Thanks that is great background, and your story will certainly be
compelling to help other agencies get involved. I suggest that you write
down your agency's commitment and plans into the OAM website somewhere,
and encourage other agencies to do the same.

To profile Australian government agencies I'd expect may be interested
and may get involved:

* They have datasets
* They have a mandate now, or will likely be able to get a mandate in
future with suitable lobbying, to make their own datasets available to
the public.
* They likely will not have budget yet to put datasets online, but with
a suitably compelling case, they could lobby for funding.
* They would probably want to be in control of their datasets, and hence
would likely want to host their own node of the dataset - ie. being the
master repository of the dataset
* They would want to obey international standards in this area, and
align with international initiatives if they exist
* There will be debate over pricing models, but individuals will likely
want to have the datasets made available under a free licence. The
agency won't know much about Open Source licenses, and would want advice
and to follow
* They will want to talk to someone with authority to negotiate what
they would contribute. The NPS Foundation may well be the right
organisation to make it work.
